Request for Shared Memories
Honoring Mr. Bill Taylor and Mr. Mike Foor
The Independence High School Alumni Association will recognize Mr. Bill Taylor and Mr. Mike Foor as the 2024 Educators of Excellence during the Monday, March 11, 2024 meeting in the IHS Multimedia Center (previously the High School Library) at 12:00 - noon.
Recognizing that many Alumni would like to attend and help recognize these two great educators, but will not be able to attend, we would like to offer you the opportunity to send your congratulatory comments and or photos which we will display for others to see during the ceremony.
For Mr. Foor, perhaps a picture of a project you built during shop class, along with your name and picture, or a project you completed after graduation, along with comments about how Mr. Foor gave you the confidence to take on projects, research options and complete your project. And, perhaps, how what he taught you, helped you, or led you to your chosen career field. If you will be attending, perhaps you could bring your shop project with you - maybe a chair to sit in!
For Mr. Taylor, largely the same. And perhaps how exposure at a younger age led to your decision to perhaps join the Bio Society, and then your Biology Project, college and course of study selection and career field.
And perhaps, most of all, how the Mr. Foor or Mr. Taylor influenced your life.
It would be super if you could send a one-page document with your narrative and a picture or two that provides your tribute.
An example might be a picture of a young kid attending a field nature event, later a bio project that leads to a particular college and field of study and then a lifetime career in the field.
If your time schedule will not permit a larger effort, we would still gratefully welcome your name, class and your career field that you, at least in part, attribute to Mr. Foor or Mr. Taylor. An example might be: Billy Jones, Class of 2000, Construction Manager, Company Name, Chicago.

We envision that comments will be posted on poster boards during the ceremony.
Please provide your comments not later than March 5, 2024 but sooner would help.

The Alumni Association meets quarterly on the second Monday of the month in March, June, September and November.
Newsletter Submission Deadline for the Spring Spectator is Sunday, May 19th.
Newsletter Submission Deadline for the Winter Spectator is Sunday, November 17th.
Donations and Memorabilia
We are always looking for Memorabilia from your high school years. If you have rings, class photos, yearbooks or other memorabilia, particularly from 1926 thru 1928, 1931 thru 1944, 1946 thru 1951, 1992 and 1994, you would like to donate, please email Bob Wagner ('66,) at goawagner@aol.com.
